Overheard on the bus

Filed under: San Francisco — attaikede @ 1:06 pm

A woman sat down next to me on the bus the other day. Her boyfriend sat diagonally across from her. The guy was a typical joe schmoe type. The girl was quite smartly dressed and was a bit glam (I admired her coat when she sat down next to me!)

Girl says to guy: Are you wearing my hat?

Guy: No. I dunno.

Girl: No, seriously, is that my hat?

Guy: <non committal mumbling>

Girl: Cuz remember, your hat has that little thing on the back. <more mumbo jumbo about the hat.. I tuned out> You’re wearing my hat, aren’t you!

Guy: <more mumbling>

Girl: (getting annoyed) Take it off! Take off the hat!

Guy: <sheepishly takes off the hat>

Both of them (and me) observe that there is a little tear on the back of the hat. All three of us know enough about the girl’s hat by this point to know that the boy is not wearing the girl’s hat.

Girl: (in an indignant tone) Why did you say you were wearing my hat??!

Boy: I dunno!

This is the part I had to use ALL of my strength to suppress my urge to burst into giggles!

A few minute passed.

Girl: Ok, do you think we should go to the chocolate store first? <talks about that a little more> Ok .. no, you know what .. clothes shopping stresses you out enough that maybe we should just get to it.

Boy: <follows girl off the bus>

Needless to say I started laughing as soon as they got off the bus!

  1. LOL! I think I would’ve just started laughing after they realized it wasn’t her hat. :P
Looks like you’ve got more self control.
